Z1's V2 CSC Elimination Kit is a complete bolt-on solution to the failure-prone internal slave cylinder found on the VHR-powered 370Z and G37, and is a much-requested and highly-anticipated update to the original slave cylinder relocation kit for the HR and VHR powertrain.
By relocating the slave cylinder to the outside of the transmission, wear from heat and broken down clutch media have been mitigated, leading to substantially longer component life and easy service in the event of a future failure.
WHY DO I NEED IT?
To understand why this is necessary, you should first consider the conditions inside the bellhousing where the original concentric slave cylinder lives. In this location, the slave cylinder is subject to intense heat radiating outwards from both the engine and transmission. In addition, dust and media produced as the clutch wear can make it past the dust boot and to the sealing surface, contributing to accelerated wear. This leads to premature failure that we have seen on cars with as little as 10,000 miles. The obvious solution is to relocate the slave cylinder to the outside of the bellhousing and convert it to a traditional push-type slave cylinder, both of which are accomplished by this kit. Doing this mitigates failure caused by radiant heat and makes future services far easier.
THE DESIGN
Following input from our customers, we elected to keep this version simple to make the installation easier and eliminate the need for adjustments as the clutch wears. The front cover is replaced with a Z1 Billet Transmission Cover, providing the necessary slide surface for the throwout bearing and collar. A genuine OEM Nissan input shaft seal is also included, guaranteeing your new clutch won't be contaminated by seeping transmission fluid. A chromoly pivot ball and forged chromoly clutch fork are used and provide the level of rigidity and durability needed even with the most heavy-duty clutches. Outside of the transmission, a cast stainless steel bracket is used to mount an OEM 350Z "DE" Slave Cylinder to the transmission. Corrosion-resistant heat shields surround the slave cylinder, protecting it from radiant heat produced by the exhaust system.
Reliability is the most important factor, so this kit has undergone significant testing on the street and the track to ensure it can stand up to the rigors of everyday use. All wear items such as the slave cylinder, release bearing, and front cover seal are genuine OEM parts, meeting Nissan's strict standards and ensuring they are ready for anything you throw at them.
Installation Note:
To allow maximum compatibility with a wide range of clutches, two pivot ball shims are included with this kit, 5mm and 2.8mm. The 5mm shim is used with clutches that have a stack height of 82-85.5mm, such as aftermarket clutches like Z1's 370Z Clutch and Flywheel Kit. The 2.8mm shim is used to accommodate clutches with a taller stack height of 85.5-89mm, such as OEM. If you're unsure what shim to use with your clutch, please see our guide on how to measure clutch stack heights. Both shims are provided with your kit, making it easy to select the necessary shim during installation.
