When driving in high-performance scenarios, increased friction causes differential fluid temperatures to rise. This results in inconsistent performance, accelerated wear of clutch plates and seals, fluid loss from the vent tube, and eventually, catastrophic failure. By effectively managing the temperature of your differential, the Z1 Differential Cooler Kit prevents overheating and reduces the risk of fluid breakdown. This translates into improved performance, consistent power delivery, and prolonged component life.
TRACK-OPTIMIZED DESIGN
Z1's 370Z Differential Cooler Kit has been meticulously engineered with the track enthusiast in mind. It addresses the elevated temperatures encountered during intense track sessions, preventing excessive heat buildup and safeguarding the longevity of your differential.
This kit incorporates top-of-the-line components to provide exceptional cooling performance. A Tilton fluid pump ensures efficient circulation of the differential fluid, while the Spal fan and Z1 aluminum shroud maximize airflow to cool the system effectively. The 25-Row Z1 ProCooler Core provides excellent cooling capacity, keeping your differential operating within an ideal temperature range. In testing, we saw a 70° difference between inlet and outlet temperatures at the core.
*Designed to work exclusively with a Z1 High-Capacity Differential Cover. Use with other factory or aftermarket covers can not be guaranteed. Changes in line length and fittings may be necessary for use with other covers.
SIMPLE INSTALLATION
The Z1 Differential Cooler Kit is intelligently designed to mount to the existing hardware on your 370Z's chassis. No drilling or modifications to your car are required, making the installation process a breeze. The core and pump are mounted high against the body to provide maximum clearance with aftermarket exhausts, such as the Z1 Touring Exhaust. Power wiring for the pump and fan is left up to the installer to allow the electronics to be triggered either manually or through a temperature switch in the differential cover.
*Not compatible with stock exhaust or aftermarket exhausts with large central mufflers. Best exhaust clearance is found with single exit exhausts. Fitment is guaranteed with Z1's Touring Exhaust.
THE BENEFITS
The graph below shows differential temperatures recorded over 8 laps using our VR30-swapped 370Z on 200tw tires with a NISMO GT-Pro differential. Without a differential cooler installed, you'll notice that temperatures rose consistently until the end of 8 laps, reaching 310°F by the end of the 8th lap. Temperatures climb consistently up until this point, suggesting they may be even higher if tested for a longer duration. After installing the cooler, you'll notice that our starting temperatures were still high from previous laps without a cooler. Within two laps, Z1's cooler overcame these higher starting temperatures and maintained consistent temperatures around 250°F. This is well within the safe effective range of performance gear oils and is the safe operating temperature recommended by our friends at Motul.
